1. Shailesh Nayak, secretary, ministry of earth sciences has been appointed chairman of Indian Space Research Organization for a month. K Radhakrishnan retires as ISRO chairman today.
2. Krishan Kant Paul is appointed as Uttarakhand governor for the remainder of his term. Earlier, he was governor of Meghalay and was appointed on July 8, 2013. Now he will also continue to hold additional charge of Manipur state till further orders from President.


3. The 8th India-Republic of Korea Joint Commission Meeting was held in Seoul on 29 December 2014. The meeting was co-chaired was by Union External Minister of India  Sushma
Swaraj and  Minister of Foreign Affairs of  South Korea Yun Byung-se.



4. The National Biodiversity Conference (NBC) - 2015 will be held in Thiruvananthapuram,Kerala from 23rd to 27th February.It will be second edition of this biodiversity conference and its focal theme for 2015 is ‘Biodiversity: Access and Benefit Sharing’.

5. People For the Ethical Treatment ofAnimals (PETA) has named Prime Minister Narendra Modi and veteran actress Rekha as the hottest vegetarian celebrities. PETAevery year salutes the hottest vegetarian celebrities and this timeit is none other that India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bollywood’s evergreen diva Rekha .


6. Veteran journalist BG Verghese, who in 1975 won the Ramon Magsaysay award for outstanding journalism, died on 30 December. He was 87.

7. Union Government on 30 December 2014 constituted a high-level committee to allay apprehension of data sharing by various government agencies over National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID). NATGRID is a real time intelligence sharing set up.

8. Delhi government has launched new E-Rickshaw Sewa Scheme.This scheme will pave the way for the battery- operated vehicles in Delhi.

9. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) discovered a house belonging to late Harappan period (1900 – 1800 BC). The remnant of the house was discovered during the excavations carried out at Chandyanvillage in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh.This is the first time evidence of habitation pertaining to late Harappan period found in the Upper Doab region between Ganga and Yamuna.

10. Actress Luise Rainer passed away in London, UK. She was 104.She was born on 12th January 1910 in Vienna,Austria. She was renowned German-born Austrian and American film actress of cinema’s golden era.
