Gaza travellers allowed in Egypt, 1st since Oct
For the first time in 2 months, Egypt opened its border on Sunday for incoming passengers from the Gaze Strip. Situation between the two has been tense since Muslim Brotherhood, which has ties with Gaza's Hamas, was thrown over in Egypt in July 2013. The Rafah border crossing is the only Gaza crossing that doesn't border Israel.
Pakistan hangs 4 terror convicts
Four terrorists, convicted for attacking former Pakistan President Musharraf, were hanged at a district jail in Faisalabad (Pakistan) on Sunday. Pakistan's move comes day after Pm Sharif lifted a moratorium on death penalty following Peshawar attack in which 132 children were slayed by Taliban militants, The country will carry out more executions within the next 24-36 hours.
SL: Over 35k marooned by bad weather, floods
Disaster official said on Sunday that around 35.726 people have been marooned due to torrential rains and flash-floods that prevailed over the last 49 hours in Sri Lanka.

India continues to retain its attraction for global investors and remains among-st the top three preferred destinations for investment, according to a survey by EY.
Afridi to retire from ODI s After world cup
Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi announced on Sunday that he will quit ODIs after the worls cup next year. Afridi, who made his ODI debut against Kenya in 1996, will however continue to lead the national side in the T-20 format.
FB blocks Russian page supporting Putin's critic
Russian authorities on Sunday, convinced Facebook to block a page inviting people to attend a rally in support of an opposition leader Alexey Navalny. Supporters created the page on Friday for Jan-15, the day when President Vladimir Patio's top critic Navalny will hear his verdict in a fraud case which could send him to prison for up to 10 years.
Google Plans to open own campus In Hyderabad
Internet giant Google is planning to open its new campus in Hyderabad after signing an MoU with the Telangana government. It will be the third campus Google will have after the US and the UK, a government official said. Google, currently operating from rented premises in Hyderabad, wants to move to a permanent campus, he further said.
IIT Kharagpur bags maximun jobs
According to IIT officials, the students of IIT Kharagpur have bagged the maximum number of jobs as compared to other IlTs. The first phase of placements came to an end on Saturday. "The institute recorded an increase of around in with 1,100-plus job offers and 1050-plus students placed," the officials said in a statement.
Amul's FY15 turnover likely to rise by 21%
Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd, which sells milk and other dairy products under Amul, is likely to have its turnover increasing by 21% in FY15 at Rs 22,000 crone. The higher turnover is attributed to volume growth. The dairy major aims to increase its milk processing capacity to 320 lakh litre per day from the current level of 230.
Govt appoints new RAW and CRPF chiefs
The govt has appointed Rajinder Khanna, Special Secretary in the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), the country's primary foreign intelligence agency, as its new chief. Khanna will take the charge of RAW chief for a period of two years from Dec- 31. Also, Prakash Mishra, Special Secretary in the Union home ministry, has been appointed as the head of CRPF.
Delhi saw 100% rise in crime graph in 2014
National capital Delhi witnessed a 100% increase in crime graph in 2014. The year also saw a steep rise in the cases of attacks on policemen. Apart from rape, murder and theft, the city also witnessed several communal flares. Meanwhile, death of Sunanda Pushkar, who was found dead at a 5-star hotel, remains the biggest mystery of the year.
India wins world cup kabaddi tittle
Defeating Pakistan 45-42, Indian men's team sealed the fifth Kabaddi World Cup title on Saturday. In the first 10 minutes, both the teams were very close but Pakistan took the lead later. However, towards the end, India came back into the game. Also, the Indian women's side beat New Zealand 3H-27 to bag the crown for the fourth consecutive time.
Emma Watson named feminist celebrity of the year
Emma Watson has topped the list of top feminist celebrities of the year, which was released by Ms. Foundation and Cosmopolitan. The 24-yr-old actress attended the launch of the 'HeForShe' campaign in Sept, where she delivered a speech calling for men to play a greater role in ending gender inequality. Last year's winner Beyonce ranked 4 on the list.
Tunisia: Essebsi wins historic elections
Political veteran Beji Caid Essebsi has registered a historic victory in Tunisia's first free presidential elections. Tunisia was the first country to depose its leader in the Arab Spring and inspired other uprisings in the region. Mr Essebsi views himself as a technocrat who will bring much-needed stability to the country. Exit polls show him winning 55.5% of the votes.
UN mistakenly calls Hafiz Saeed as "Sahib"
Gary Quilan, chair of the United Nations Security Council, mistakenly referred to terrorist Hafiz Saeed as "Hafiz Mohammad Sahib" in an official communique to him. The suffix "Sahib", a term denoting respect, has caused unease among Indian officials who might seek clarification from the UN. However, "Hafiz Mohammad Sahib" is a well-known alias of Hafiz Saeed, listed with the Interpol.
